Revlon Cream Blush in Berry Flirtatious - This color is great.
Eos lip treatment in Sweet Mint - I HATED this stuff at first.  I thought it was super oily.  But then I kept using it because it was on my nightstand.  Now it’s a favorite.
Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Charmed - I’ve been obsessed with this for years!  I love how it’s a stain but it’s creamy and not drying at all.
Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Baby Bare and Magic Tink Tint - Although these aren’t super cheap they’re awesome.  Magic Tink Tint goes on clear and and then reacts to your pH level.  Baby Bare (and every other Brilliance Balm) is a tinted lip balm with a good color pay off.  I’m obsessed.
Revlon Nail Enamel in Scandalous and Whimsical - These polishes are spectacular!  Both a dupes for Deborah Lippmann enamels.  Scandalous (also known as Facets of Fuchsia) is a dupe for Bad Romance and Whimsical is a dupe for Glitter in the Air.
Julep Nail Enamel in Alicia - I’m loving Jueip polish. Going Julep Maven was worth it. Alicia is a creamy, neon, peach.
Make-Up Forever Mist Fix - I swear this does help makeup to stay on your face longer.
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Flirty Honey - I don’t like lipstick so this stuff is right up my alley.
Covergirl and Olay Simply Ageless Concealer in Very Light - This is my most favorite concealer. The only issue is that both Covergirl and Olay test on animals. But, Ellen DeGeneres is spokes woman, which I don’t get since she’s so vocal about animal rights.

I was eyeing this the other day.  Honestly, it was probably because of the packaging.   I’m wondering if it’s owning if you have the first Naked Palette.

Affordable Alternatives for Makeup on a Budget

sweeneywithanedge:

We all live on a tight budget sometimes, but that doesnt mean you have to sacrifice the makeup you love! Listed below, with explanations is some cheap alternatives to some more expensive products you may have in your collection.

While you take a small hit to quality and pigment, these are all products I use that make decent substitutes until our wallets are a little fuller again, enjoy! ;)

Like any girl I am a lover of the UD Primer potion (available at www.sephora.com & www.urbandecay.com) but its a bit steep at 18 dollars. Recently I ordered the dollar elf primer (available at Target & eyeslipsface.com) and I am quite impressed. Its staying power is not AS strong but my shadow still lasts throughout the day without sweating off or creasing. And for a dollar, who can complain?

I have the Mac Paint Pot in Rubenesque (available at www.maccosmetics.com) and I am a lover of it as a base for my bronze and gold looks. You can achieve the same sort of base the paint pots offer however with nearly any cream shadow. Simply apply a cream shadow on your lid that you want as a base and apply shadow on overtop. Just be careful not to use too much so it doesnt look cakey!

I really enjoy lip stains like Stila’s Lip & Cheek Stain (available at www.sephora.com) but recently I purchased an Outlast Lipstain by Covergirl at Walgreens and I am quite enjoying it. The color lasts on my lips around 3 days if I dont exfoliate it away and the shades are subtle but nice. Granted you dont get the benefit of a cheek stain as well (altough Im sure you could with some quick blending) its worth the slash in price.

Mac has a great line of soft eye kohls that go on nice and creamy. A cheap alternative I enjoy though is the Rimmel Soft Eye Kohl. I have three of them in Black, White, and Navy and I use them all the time. They are not as soft as the mac kohls but they have equal staying power if you do not have too much oil in your skin. And considering you can by about 4 or 5 for the price of one Mac one, you can build quite the collection ;)

Mac Zoom Lash is my favorite mascara of all time but I recently got to try the Falsies and I fell IN LOVE. I could not believe how big and black my lashes looked! I cant wait to buy one for myself, its going to become a staple of my collection ;)

These jumbo eye pencils by NYX (www.cherryculture.com) arent too expensive and make great bases. Still though, if you want a cheap drugstore alternative try these ones by wet n wild. They work about the same, slightly less pigmented, but since I use them as bases I dont miss the pigmentation too much. Plus at around a dollar a pop you can feel free to play around with colors. If you dont like them, youre only out a buck.

Every girl needs a good set of brushes, and Sigma is known for theirs (as is Mac). But who can afford that much for brushes when we have bills to pay. Elf offers these brushes (which are decent, I use them everyday) for only 12 dollars. And if youre lucky, occasionally (www.retailmenot.com) has coupon codes for a free set of 12 with your order. Thats how I got mine. And free to 12 dollars is a lot cheaper than $79!

Unpopular Opinion: Seche Vite

I’m going to start a new thing on Budget Beautiful called Unpopular Opinion.  Basically I’m going to tell you about products I thing are garbage for me.  Let me stress, for me!  Let me know if you disagree.  You can even do your own review and I’ll post it.

So anyways, Seche Vite.  It’s so many people’s holy grail top coat.  But we don’t get along at all.

The Seche website promises: “Seche Vite™ dry fast top coat is widely acknowledged as the world’s finest top coat. Specially formulated to penetrate through nail lacquer to the base coat forming a single solid coating over the nail plate for a much more durable finish. Guaranteed not to yellow while leaving nails silky, stronger and resistant to chipping and peeling.”

I have to agree with the fact that Seche Vite dries faster than any other top coat that I’ve used and it does not leave your nails yellow, but besides that I have to completely disagree!

For me, Seche Vite makes my polish peel off within a day or two.  It just comes off in one solid sheet.  So I suppose that it does form a since coat over the nail. It chips.  Like crazy!

As for “leaving nails silky” and “stonger,” I have no idea. My polish peels off so quickly that I can’t agree or disagree with this statement.

I have two other concerns about Seche Vite.

Glitter gets stuck in it.  I just used some Seche Vite and now I have glitter on my nails from the last time I used it.

It also gets super thick.  It becomes a gloopy mess.  I’ve only had this bottle for a few months and it’s already giving me problems.  I guess this is a common problem.  Seche sells a thinner, but I refuse to have to buy this product.  I shouldn’t have to thin my polish anyways!  I’ve added some nail polish remover, and it’s seems to have worked.

Yes, Seche Vite will make you polish dry crazy fast and it makes your manicure shiny and beautiful, but, for me at least, that awesome looking shine will peel off in a day or too.

I wouldn’t recommend it.

Katie, I was at the beauty shop today and OPI Holland is out. What one do you want?

One of the 1000 reasons I adore my mom.

Look! I finally made a profile photo for Budget Beautiful!

As you can see, I lack in Polyvore skills, but whatever.  At least there isn’t a grey head anymore!

Become a Julep Maven.

Julep Nail Polish for 1 cent?

Too good to be true?  Perhaps.  I’m really not sure, but I went for it!

A bottle of Julep polish is usually $14.  Way, way too much for me!  I’ve never spent anywhere near that much for one bottle, and I’m a HUGE nail polish junkie.  Seriously, my nail polish collection will probably put yours to shame.

Anyways, I signed up for the Julep Maven box.  You take a quiz to see if your polish style is ‘American Beauty,’ ‘Boho Glam,’ ‘Bombshell,’ ‘Classic with a Twist,’ or ‘It Girl.’  I got ‘Boho Glam,’ which I thought was pretty legit after seeing the polish packages.  Basically you get three polishes, or two polishes and another nail related treat, every month for $19.99.  Not too bad of a deal.

Right now there’s a deal going on where you can get one month’s box for 1 cent using the code, COLOR2012.  There’s even an option for free shipping.

You do have to put in your credit card info.  After the first month you’re charged $19.99 a month.  But, you can cancel at anytime.

I’m going to try and cancel after the first month.  If I can’t cancel I’ll pay $19.99, get next month’s box, and then cancel.  Still a good price for 5 polishes and cuticle oil.

So, order at your own risk.  I’m really not sure if there’s a catch.  But oh well.  I’ve been lusting after some Julep nail polish for quite some time.

Check out this link to take the Julep Maven style quiz!

Sephora!

Yep.  Sephora.  Not at all what you’d call a place to find expensive makeup.  But, I got a $50 JCPenny’s card for Christmas and I plan on using some of it (ok…probably all of it…) at the tiny, baby Sephora in the Penny’s in Erie.

I was going to make the hour and a half trek today, but then the cat fell into the turtle tank, traumatizing both of them and forcing my mom and I to give the cat an shower.  I think he has too much catnip, if you know what I mean…

Anyway…Budget Beauties, what are your favorite “higher-end” or expensive cosmetics?  Any must haves?  I try my best to find inexpensive, accessible products but sometimes you just fall for something you have to splurge on.

MAC Paint Pots are some of my closet allies and Benefit Posietint and I just work so well together and couldn’t bare to part ways.  And don’t even get me started on the UD Naked palette.  I know it sounds dramatic, but it’s honestly one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

Some here’s what I think I may buy.  Tell me if you love it or loathe it, lust after it or have seen an awesome review on it.

Korres Lip Butter - $12 | I’ve been wanting to try this since forever.  I am obsessed with tinted lip balms and butters.  So many say this is their Holy Grail.  I want it in Quince or Pomegranate.  Or both.

Nails Inc. Magnetic Polish - $16 | I’m fascinated by this polish!  I want Houses of Parliament, which is the purple.  But, it’s $16. I am iffy on this.

Nails Inc. London The Wyndham Collection - $20 | I feel the same about this set as I do about their magnetic polish.  AMAZING!  But, expensive!  This comes with Flakies.  FLAKIES!  I love for flakies and I could use this top coat over any polish.  But, I have no need for the Black Teal Kensington polish.  It’s nothing unique.  Maybe I’ll get this.  Maybe I wont.  But, FLAKIES!

Rosebud Salves - $6 | Here’s a product that belongs on Budget Beautiful!  I love both these salves and they’re only $6 a piece.  The original Smith’s Rosebud Salve is a cult favorite that needs to be in everyone’s purse.  It looks and feels great on and it really does help heal.  You can also use it on your skin to help with irritation, dryness, and minor burns.  My favorite though is their Minted Rose Balm.  I like it more than the original because it leaves a bit darker tint on your lips.  Both smell like rose and the minted one is well, minty.  You can feel the mint on your lips.

There some other things I may check out, such as Tarte’s Lip Stains or TheBalm Stainiac lip stains.

I’ve been eyeing also the Fresh Rose Tinted Lip Treatment for months but I’m never going to get it, even with a gift card.  $22.50 for a tinted balm is redic.  I could never justify that.

Shame they don’t carry MAC.  My mom really wants a Painterly Paint Pot.

Maybe I’ll just get the Korres Lip Butter and some clothes.

What are you more expensive must haves?  What products do you think are worth the splurge?

Here’s a tiny preview of what’s to come!
Yesterday I ended up at CVS and came back with five polishes. It’s haul time!
From left to right they are: Wet N Wild Party of Five Glitters, Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Razzle Dazzler, Milani 3D Holographic in Cyberspace, Sally Hansen Double Duty Strenghing Base and Top Coat and Sally Hansen Mega Shine Extended Wear Top Coat.
I know the last two aren’t terribly exciting but I’m trying differences top/base coats in hopes that I actually find some combination that doesn’t make everything on my nail peel off.
I have Cyberspace on right now and it’s gorgeous.
